Community Planning and Geospatial Analysis, UCP MS track

Overview

The Community Planning and Geospatial Analysis (CPGA) program allows students in the Urban and Community Planning (UCP) program who are interested in geospatial systems to devote half of their degree with continued study. In the traditional UCP track, students take most electives that focus on transportation, urban design, community development, land use, open space resilience, affordable housing or topical special courses. This allows students to get a broad overview of planning ideologies. The CPGA program gives students an opportunity to focus on more skill-based elective courses to further their toolset for geospatial analysis and visualization. Students in the CPGA program use these elective courses to expand on the statistical framework of their UCP degree, while still having room to take planning-specific electives they are also interested in. This allows students post-graduation to interact with a larger employment pool, presenting themselves both as urban planning and GIS professionals
